Good Times Geeking Out

Last week, I was on the phone with my sister asking if she and my niece and nephew wanted to go to Cheyenne Comic Con with us. She wanted some more details, so I explained to her what was going on. In the middle of my explanation, it occurred to me that I sounded like the biggest nerd ever…and I was completely fine with it.

I love being able to do things that feed my passions. I like pop culture, I love horror, and I adore talking about zombies. I got to combine all of those things this weekend with other like-minded people. And the best part: I got to share it with my boys.

As a parent, I want to make sure my kids grow up experience the best things in life. I want them to have fun and know that being a geek or a nerd is totally acceptable.

My oldest was a bit nervous being around so many people, so he wasn’t overly adventurous at first. My youngest was all about trying new things and checking things out. Eventually, the oldest relaxed and was willing to try things, but he made sure I didn’t get too far away.

All in all, the experience was amazing. It was so much fun walking around and seeing the different costumes and checking out the various booths. We didn’t go to any panels on Saturday—mainly because the boys thought sitting and listening to talking was boring—but we made up for that by chatting with some celebrities.

There were people inside those Iron Man suits.
Every so often, they would bust a move to the music.

This was the boys' favorite booth. It was for the Umbrella Corporation, but they were just thrilled about the guns.

This was a Batman car.

What fun things did you get to do this weekend?
