As of today, the oldest has 3.5 days left of school. Then, summer break is right around the corner. Thankfully, the weather was really nice for the long weekend, so we celebrated in style. We had BBQs with friends, and we also went fishing with family.
Each kid caught several fish. It was a lot of fun. I hope you all had a wonderful Memorial Day weekend. Thanks to the soldiers who made this lifestyle possible!
Last week, my oldest had his first baseball game ever. He and his team did a great job, and they had a lot of fun playing. My son got to play several different positions, including pitcher, second base, and catcher. It sounds like he like catching the most.
This week, they have three games, one of which is a makeup game from last week that got snowed out. It should be a lot of fun! I can't wait to watch the team play more games!
The youngest was a little bored since he's too small to play. I heard about every two minutes for an hour and a half that he was hungry. For the last 10 minutes, all I heard was how much he wanted to go home. I'm sure as time goes on and we bring things for the youngest to do, he'll have fun too.
I hope all of you wonderful mothers had a fantastic day yesterday. We got hit with a huge snowstorm and all the roads closed, so we were stuck in town. That didn't bother me. I got to spend quality time with my family. We had so much fun!
We went to the boys' grandparent's house and played pool and darts and watched a movie, then we went to my parent's house and hung out for a while. After that, we went to dinner, and the oldest lost his third tooth. It was an amazing day. The boys even cleaned the house AND the bathrooms for me yesterday. It was awesome. I'll take days like that any time!
I've always read to my boys. I started reading to them while they were still in the womb. However, as they got older and stopped sitting still, the reading fell to the wayside. I missed it. I missed having that quiet time with my kids. This went on for a few years, then I decided it was time to start reading before bed again.
I let them pick the books we would read. That way, we could all enjoy reading time. The oldest picked the first book in the Spiderwick Chronicles, and the youngest picked a Spongebob book. After we finished those, the boys wanted to read The Ifs.
I wrote this book specifically for them, and I had attempted to read it in an earlier version, but they couldn't sit still long enough to enjoy it. This time, they were completely engrossed. They loved every minute of the story. They asked questions, they acted out scenes the next day. It made me very happy.
They were so excited about the book, they wanted me to start the second one, The Ifs Return. This book is not available yet, and I'm hoping to hear about it's fate soon, but they didn't care. They wanted more adventure. I was more than happy to give it to them.
